Fireproof…commitment and marriage
A new email friend, Irene, just made me aware of a movie opening tonight at select theatres in our area “Fireproof”…no, it’s not a Spielberg, but it does deal with marriage and the sacredness of vows… something we don’t hear about too often. Those of you than know me, know that I was married at 19 and have been married for 24 years…I know that if not for our vows and the grace they have given us through the Church… we would never have made it this far. I have asked my wife to treat me to this movie for my birthday 9/28! I Hope you can get a chance to see it too, I’ll definitely be posting a review on Monday. See the movie trailer on the link below:

Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE!!!!
I saw the previews last week and I said to myself "It's about time decent movies with morals are being filmed"! Almost every movie out there deals with adultery and/or pre-marital sex, taking God's Name in vain, etc. What are these movies being filmed teaching our children. Like it or not these children are our future and from what is happening today...our future looks pretty grim. My daughters see many scandalous acts as if it were a normal part of life. Not that I want them to judge anyone...far from it...but they seem to think this kind of life is ok! Well it is not!
I am in hopes that this movie gets top ratings because this might just be the beginning of more such movies! Our human nature is full of weaknesses & in much need of inspiration to help us in our daily lives. We need to encourage each other and healthy movies like this one seems to be may in fact leave us with a hope and strength to work out our problems with a holy and healthy approach. Running away seems like the suitable answer to a problem marriage, but in reality, that problem is like your shadow...it follows you wherever you go! Patience, compassion, communication, and understanding, as well as love is very pertinent to a marriage. With out the above, one will experience resentment and anger, which would end up in hate.
Fireproof may well be the inspiration all marriages need but I believe this is also just as inspirational for our young ones to watch and see how precious are the Vows of Matrimony given to one another with so much love.
